Experience:

Keval Patel began his career working for one of the nation’s top five accounting firms. He worked in the firm’s Research and Development Tax Credit Group where he performed both a consulting and legal role. Keval’s primary responsibilities involved assisting Fortune 500 companies quantify and qualify R&D activities. In addition, Keval represented clients in the audit process against the IRS.

After leaving the accounting firm, Keval opened his own practice in the Sugar Land area. He spent the first few years representing clients in a variety of legal matters including criminal defense, civil litigation, tax, probate, contract disputes, and real estate. Prior to becoming a founding member of Ghalayini & Patel, LLC, Keval’s focus became real estate, estate planning and tax.

 

Practice Focus:

Keval Patel represents clients on real estate matters including foreclosure defense, predatory lending, eviction proceedings, landlord security deposit disputes, and title issues. Keval has successfully prosecuted real estate claims in addition to defending them. Currently, Keval has been focused on assisting homeowners with foreclosure issues including suing banks to hold them accountable for promises made to unsuspecting homeowners. Keval was recently featured in a Channel 11 newscast regarding one of his clients and the work relating to assisting the homeowner save his home. In addition to real estate, Keval assists individuals plan their estates through the implementation of living wills and trusts. Keval’s final area of focus centers around IRS defense and assisting individuals with tax problems. Due to Keval strong history in tax, Keval has been able to negotiate deals for tax payers who are heavily in debt with the Internal Revenue Service. Keval utilizes his tax knowledge in his Estate Planning practice to minimize taxes.

Deep Patel started his career working for a large global real estate services firm working in the Hotel Transactions Group. He led the financial analyses of both select and full-service hotel assets ranging in value from $10M to over $300M. His legal background made him a valuable resource to the team, assisting them in reviewing and composing abstracts of hotel franchise and management agreements for major hospitality brands. Deep also facilitated the completion of strategic advisory assignments including development of brand and management standards, highest and best use, due diligence, market and feasibility studies.
After leaving the real estate services sector, Deep Patel joined a national consumer advocacy law firm helping clients resolve their financial situation. He was responsible for managing over 250 clients and defending approximately 350 lawsuits totaling over $2.5M. While at the firm, Deep successfully negotiated approximately $2M in total debt. His practice involved consulting with numerous collection firms across the country, representing some of the nation’s largest creditors. He advised clients on post-judgment collection matters and all aspects of collection law including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and state foreclosure/ anti-deficiency statutes.
In January 2012, Deep Patel partnered up with Keval Patel to form the law firm of K&D Patel PLLC to provide clients with a wide array of legal services.
